Panama Trip through Rutgers Global Medical & Dental Brigade
By Duha Magzoub
I wanted to first and foremost say thank you so much for all your hard work and support . My trip to Panama could not have been complete without all of your help and dedication to ensuring that I had a successful trip. I wanted to share some photos with you all and hopefully print some out for you guys to keep in your office!
Once again the organization that I did the trip with was Rutgers Global Medical & Dental Brigade. We set up a clinic in a school for a rural community known as Aguas Frias. With the help of 3 physicians and a dentist we were able to provide health care to the community through treating and diagnosing the patients. The dentist was also able to conduct several teeth extractions and general fluoride treatments.
During my time in Panama I was able to volunteer in different departments of our clinic. My first day I facilitated a children workshop to teach them how to properly wash their hands and brush their teeth. We also gave the children hygiene packs which included toothbrushes, toothpaste, hand soap, shampoo, etc. I was also volunteering in the pharmacy where the patients came in with their prescriptions and we would assist the pharmacists in finding their medications. There is so much more to say about the trip so hopefully I will stop by and see you all since I am taking summer classes on Livingston Campus.
