Educational Outreach Funding

"Rutgers aspires to be broadly recognized as among the nation’s leading public universities: preeminent in research, excellent in teaching, and committed to community" (Rutgers University Strategic Plan 2013).

SAEE Educational Outreach funding is designed to promote student academic success through collaborative programming, research and community based initiatives designed to enhance the undergraduate experience. The intent of the grant is to increase cross-collaboration between academic departments, administrative units, student organizations, with the shared mission of increasing student retention and graduation. In order to be considered for funding, programs must be targeted towards a diverse body of Rutgers University undergraduate students, provide a co-curricular academic component, and involve collaboration between two or more student organizations and/or departmental units. Preference will be given to programs/initiatives that provide educational opportunities addressing access, equity, diversity and inclusion within the Rutgers University-New Brunswick Campus.

Examples of acceptable programs/experiences:

  • Programs or initiatives that motivate students toward graduation
  • Research lab tour
  • Professional and academic development workshops
  • Invitation of guest lecturer or panelists
  • Alternative educational spring/winter/summer experiences

Preference will be given to programs meeting the following criteria:

  • Programs that appeal to students of diverse backgrounds and needs
  • Faculty and student led initiatives that impact student retention and graduation
  • Programs promoting inclusion, educational access, and equity
  • Programs supporting intercampus collaboration through various departments, units, and/or student organizations
  • Programs that are well planned and include a clear outline
  • Programs with an itemized budget that reflects request for funds and funds expected
  • Programs with a clear and thorough assessment plan
