Summer 2019 Employment Opportunities

Thinking about ways to make your upcoming summer productive and meaningful? The Office of Student Access and Educational Equity has multiple opportunities available for undergraduate and graduate students. 

Resident Mentor Positions

The Resident Mentor position is a “live-in” position with daytime, evening, and weekend responsibilities. The primary focus of the position is during the evening hours where Resident Mentors will participate in a combination of the following: duty, programming, chaperoning special trips, tutoring, peer mentorship, and/or crisis response.  In addition, Resident Mentors are expected to provide for meetings, daytime duty and related administrative tasks.

  • School of Environmental and Biological Sciences Summer START-UP Program
  • Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math-Science Summer Institute
  • Paul Robeson Leadership Institute

Mandatory Orientation and Training Dates

  • Staff Orientation - 04/26/19
  • Summer Training Dates- June 2019
  • New Student and Parent Orientation– TBA

Selection Process

  • All applicants must attend one 60 minute group interview session on Saturday, January 26th, 2019. There are no exceptions.
  • If advanced, candidates will undergo a 30 minute individual interview between February 5th - March 8th, 2019
  • Final hiring decisions will be made in by Spring Break 2019.

Hall Director, Assistant Hall Director and Program Assistant Positions

The Office of Student Access and Educational Equity is seeking three residence life supervisors for the Summer of  2019. All applicants must submit their cover letter and resume to be considered. Decision for Residence Life Supervisors will be made by March 15, 2019. Information packets regarding each position and how to apply may be downloaded below.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have at least ONE year of residence life  employment experience in higher education (supervisory experience preferred)
  • Must have strong leadership, communication, programming, and organizational skills
  • Must be able to able to commit to full time employment for the duration of the Summer Institute
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must have access to a vehicle
  • Must live in the assigned residence hall
  • May not hold any outside commitments
  • Must be willing to undergo a background check

  • Summer Start-Up Summer Institute (SEBS EOF)-  July 6- August 2, 2019                     

  • Upward Bound:  June 22 –August 2, 2019             

  • Paul Robeson Institute: TBA
