International Science and Education (ISE)
(ISE) initiative at Rutgers’ School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS) has the goal of strengthening the global competence of students, faculty and staff in agriculture and related areas. It develops students’ international perspectives, knowledge and skills through instructional and experiential learning and increases international collaborations among faculty.
Students are introduced to real-world collaborative projects between Rutgers and international partners in Africa, the Americas and Asia focusing on (i) food crop diversification in the United States to respond to changing demographics and (ii) research on new crops for the emerging United States market for bioenergy.
Robeson International Science & Culture Explorations (RISCE) in KENYA
The Paul Robeson Cultural Center (PRCC) of Rutgers University is dedicated to enabling students, faculty and the community to enhance their capacities for inclusiveness, global citizenship and the appreciation of human cultural diversity. For over ten years PRCC has been sending students, faculty, and community members abroad in the spirit of Paul Robeson whose life’s work was dedicated to global citizenship and human rights.
This year PRCC will send selected members of the Rutgers community to explore science and culture in Kenya.
Frontiers In Research:
The Frontiers in Scientific Research Program is designed to promote opportunities for undergraduate research for LSAMP Scholars. Upper-class LSAMP Scholars will have the opportunity to conduct research with Dr. Joseph Freeman, an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Rutgers University in Piscataway, NJ.
Join Dr. Freeman in his research on Musculoskeletal Tissue Regeneration (MoTR) Laboratory which is primarily focuses on the repair and regeneration of tissue, mainly musculoskeletal tissue, through the use of tissue engineering techniques.
He also investigates mechanisms of tissue damage and healing,
cancer development and molecular modeling of structural proteins.
Sustainable Capital City – Municipal Engineering Internships:
A Collaborative Venture Sponsored by Various Infrastructure Agencies in the City of Trenton, Mercer County, State of New Jersey
This internship program introduces junior and senior engineering students to management responsibilities of infrastructure for a “sustainable” city from the perspective of a Professional Engineer, Public Works Director, and Planning agency. The program uses special infrastructure projects with field and desktop work defined by Directors in the Trenton Public Works Department, Trenton Parking Authority, & Downtown Association.
