Louis Stokes Alliance for Miniority Participation (LSAMP) offers employment opportunities to scholars for the academic year. For the each opportunity listed below, requires active participation and membership in the program.

LSAMP Ambassadors

Ambassadors serve as the faces of the LSAMP Program and representatives at on-campus and state-wide events. They mentor a small group of LSAMP Scholars with similar majors individually during the academic year. Ambassadors act as a reliable resource and referral agent and providing relevant information

Some responsibilities of membership include greeting families at open house for prospective students, mentoring, administrative duties, public speaking at university wide events such as Open House or Rutgers Day, promoting LSAMP events and encouraging student participation in LSAMP initiatives.

General Requirements & Compensation

•  Must be a LSAMP Scholar or eligible
•  Must work a minimum of 15-20 hours per week (minimum of 3 hours per day)
•  Compensation: $2,500 stipend per semester 
•  Must have a firm balance of academic and major requirements (minimum 3.0 GPA)
•  Must attend all large scale LSAMP hosted and sponsored events (generally held evenings and weekends)

LSAMP Tutors

The Rutgers Learning Center hires LSAMP scholars, as tutors, to provide small group or individual tutoring to peers in the LSAMP program. Tutors assist student in improving academic achievement in science, math, and engineering related courses. Some responsibilities include clarifying class material, reviewing and discussing course text and working on practice problems. Potential tutor candidates should have strong academic, as well as student interactive backgrounds. Prior experiences with providing tutoring in Math and Science related courses are strongly preferred.

LSAMP Learning Assistants

The Learning Assistant Program engages undergradautes in classroom teaching and learning while helping them develop their teaching, leadership, and itnerpersonal skills. LSAMP Learning Assistants are hired through the Rutgers Learning Centers. Those with a good academic standing in math, science, and/or engineering areas (i.e. Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Orgnaic Chemistry, General Chemistry, Thermodynamis, etc.) are to assist in the classrooms, such as facilitating discussions, workshops during lectures, and lead study groups. Learning Assistants are paid a stipend of $1,500 each semester, assigned 160 minutes of contact time with students, as well as attend meetings and professional development programs.
