Meet Our Staff
James H. Whitney III, Director — Dr. Whitney III has been involved in access programs for over ten years. He is a three time EOF graduate of Rutgers University, with a B.S.in Administration of Justice and Africana Studies from Rutgers College, a Masters of Social Work (M.S.W.) and a Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) from the Graduate School of Education. Dr. Whitney's professional career began at Rutgers as a Senior EOF Counselor. During his time at Rutgers he has worked in other roles including positions with the office of Residence Life, Africana Studies and served on a variety of academic committees. Since 2007 Dr. Whitney has served as the Director & Principal Investigator on several TRIO grants including Upward Bound, Upward Bound-Math-Science and McNair programs as well as a number of community projects. Dr. Whitney is also a member and past policy chair of the Association for Equality and Excellence in Education (AEEE). Dr. Whitney has dedicated his educational pursuits and professional life to serving the needs of first-generation, low-income and underprivileged students.
Jhanna Jean-Louis, Assistant Director — Ms. Jean-Louis is a two time graduate of Rutgers University with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Social Work and a Masters of Social Work (M.S.W.) from the Graduate School of Social Work. Ms. Jean-Louis is a first-generation college student from Jersey City, New Jersey recently began her professional career at Rutgers University. Prior to her role position with McNair, Ms. Jean-Louis served in a variety of roles at Rutgers including Office of Information Technology, Student Access & Educational Equity administration, and academic support and preparation programs Upward Bound and the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP). As a first-generation, underrepresented, and non-traditional (transfer) student, Ms. Jean-Louis strives to support and promote educational opportunities for students through post-baccalaureate preparation.
