Joshua Tedesco Shares Experience at Materials Science and Technology Conference 2016

Joshua Tedesco, current McNair Scholar (Cohort 2015) & LSAMP Scholar, shares his experience at Materials Science and Technology Conference 2016 - “Thanks to financial assistance provided by the McNair program, I was able to attend Materials Science and Technology Conference 2016 in Salt Lake City, Utah. This is one of the biggest conferences in the world, for a materials engineer like myself, and I made a ton of amazing connections. After winning the local contest (at Rutgers University- New Brunswick), I was able to compete in the Material Advantage National Student Contest against America’s top Materials Science Engineering schools. After winning the semifinals, I moved on to the finals where I won third place overall. In addition, I was able to enter the student poster contest, which gave me chance to demonstrate my research skills to professors and scholars from universities all over the world. The best part of my experience was the networking with faculty whom I had been interested in working with for graduate school; some of them even invited me to visit their labs.”
