Jennifer Agosto Jennifer Agosto, Senior Counselor. Ms. Agosto is a proud graduate/product of the EOF Program. She was a Rutgers College EOF student and continued with the grant through graduate school. She received her MSW from the School of Social Work. Her focus has been admissions and financial aid. She assists with on-site interviews to different high schools and helps students with their financial aid package. She has been with the EOF Program for twenty-five years now and enjoys the success of her current and former students.

Shornna Berkeley Shornna Berkeley, Senior Counselor. Mrs. Berkeley earned a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from the Rutgers Graduate School of Education. While working at Rutgers, she has been an advisor to students pursuing science majors, a resident counselor for Douglass College, an Upward Bound counselor, a study skills instructor, an academic program coordinator, a First Year Retention and Dismissal Advisor, a transfer seminar instructor, and now a primary advisor for the First Year EOF RBS students. Career development is one of her primary interests.

LaShelle Cross LaShelle Cross, Program Coordinator. Ms. LaShelle Cross is a proud Rutgers EOF alumna. She participated in the Rutgers University-Newark Upward Bound program, and went on to become a Douglass College EOF scholar, where she was inspired by all of the help and support she was given. As an undergraduate, Ms. Cross was a very involved student, working in Dining Services, Off-campus Housing, Conference Services, RU-Info, and residence life. All of these positions furthered her passion for working in a college environment. Ms. Cross continued her graduate education at Syracuse University where she earned a master’s degree in Higher Education. While at Syracuse University, she worked in Judicial Affairs, Student Activities, and the HEOP office before returning to New Jersey as a hall director, a position she held for 5 years. Ms. Cross is excited that she has been able to continue this holistic work with students through the Program Coordinator position. She believes that EOF stands for Extra-Ordinary Family! Ms. Cross is located in room A239 in Lucy Stone Hall on the Livingston Campus.

Petal Britton-Gadsden Petal Britton-Gadsden, Senior Counselor. Mrs. Britton-Gadsden is proud alumni of the New York State Educational Opportunity Program. Ms. Gadsden earned her Bachelors of Arts from the State University of New York at Purchase College where she majored in Psychology with a minor in Women's Studies. Ms. Gadsden earned her Master's in Social Work from Monmouth University. Her areas of interests are Recruitment/Admissions, Financial Aid, Retention and Preparing Students for life after college. Ms. Gadsden currently serves as the advisor for Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA).

Lissette Herrera Lissette Herrera, Senior Counselor. Ms. Herrera serves as the advisor for EOPSA, the Educational Opportunity Program Student Association. She is a two time graduate of Rutgers University with a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish Linguistics and Sociology from Douglass College and a Master’s in Social Work from the School of Social Work. Ms. Herrera is also a pipeline alumna of the Rutgers Upward Bound Program, Educational Opportunity Fund Program, Student Support Services and The Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program. She also works with the Office of Academic Services Planning and Advising (APA) days, the Office of Student Conduct and EOF Admissions.

Simone Mack-Bright Simone Mack-Bright, Senior Counselor. Mrs. Mack-Bright earned a Master's in Student Personnel Administration in Higher Education from New York University and a Bachelors in Psychology and History from Rutgers University. Mrs. Mack-Bright served as the Chair for the Educational Opportunity Fund Statewide Alumni Association and she currently serves as the University of New Jersey Public Research Institutions Sector Representative for EOFPANJ, Inc.

Eliezer Marcellus Eliezer Marcellus, Senior Counselor. Mr. Marcellus graduated from Rowan University with his Bachelors in Criminal Justice and earned a Master's degree in Higher Education Administration. He currently acts as a staff advior to various student organizations including the Haitian Student Association at Rutgers University,The Black Men’s Collective, Each One, Reach One as well as a Male Mentoring Program. He serves as a Residence Life Coordinator for the Summer Institute.

Christine Pitts Christine Pitts, Senior Counselor. Ms. Christine Pitts is a proud Rutgers University, SAS EOF, and Douglass alumna. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from the School of Communication and Information. The support, love and guidance she received from the SAS EOF family, and Rutgers University inspired her to continue her education. Ms. Pitts received her Master of Science degree in Education, Student Affairs and College Counseling from Monmouth University. She is passionate about diversity, social justice, and helping first-generation students. Ms. Pitts is ecstatic to be back at Rutgers University EOF where she hopes to assist students on their journey to success and give back what Rutgers and EOF have given her. Her office is located on the third floor of Lucy Stone Hall.

Cherell Smith, Senior Counselor. Ms. Smith received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Shaw University, and a Masters’ degree from Kean University in Counseling. Prior to joining the School of Arts & Sciences EOF Program, she served as a Student Development Specialist in the EOF Program at Union County College for eight years. Her interests are student leadership development and program planning. She is passionate about making a difference and helping students succeed. Ms. Smith is located in room 20A in Milledoler Hall on the College Avenue Campus.

Jeremy Toulon Jeremy Toulon, Senior Counselor.Mr. Toulon is a native New Yorker hailing from Queens/Long Island. He is a two-time graduate of Binghamton University, with a Bachelor of Arts in Africana Studies and a Master's of Social Work.  He previously has served as the STEM Academic Counselor for Student Support Services at Binghamton University, where he provided academic, personal, financial, and career counseling to student first-generation/low income students. Most recently Mr. Toulon was the Undergraduate Affairs Officer for a New York City non-profit, Prep for Prep, where among his other duties he facilitated a group for young men on leave from their colleges and universities.  Being new to Rutgers and EOF, he hopes his work as a Senior Counselor will further diversity in higher education and promote achievement among students. Eric Weaver, Senior Counselor. Mr. Eric Weaver is a native of Jersey City and a graduate of Snyder High School, Bloomfield College (Bachelor of Arts degree in Audio Engineering) and New Jersey City University (Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice). Most recently, he worked at Hudson County Community College as an EOF Counselor. Mr. Weaver has worked diligently as a mentor to young men in the Jersey City and Newark New Jersey areas. He is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated and is excited to join the Rutgers family. His office is located in the lower level of Milledoler Hall.

Melissa Henry, Senior Counselor. Melissa Henry is a graduate of Montclair State University’s Family and Child Studies Program and served as a Teacher in East Orange, New Jersey for three years. Ms. Henry completed her Master’s degree at Kean University where her area of focus was Counseling. Since receiving her Master’s degree, Ms. Henry has worked at Passaic County Community College as an EOF Counselor/ Retention Specialist and now joins our team as a SAS EOF Senior Counselor on the College Avenue Campus.
