Dr David Pierre graduated from Cook College back in 2008 with a B.S. in Biological Sciences. He has a Master of Science degree (M.S.) in Biological Sciences from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences in Stratford, NJ. He earned a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine July 2013 and did his Residency in Newark Delaware with the Christina Care Health System Family Medicine. He is also a proud member of the Delaware National Guard where he serves as Captain for his team, the 166th Medical Group in New Castle, DE.
Dr Pierre has been asked to speak to different groups of students where he never fails to give a motivational and inspiring talk, often referring to his own journey and challenges that he overcame by believing in himself. He also credits the strong support system he had with family, mentors, advisors and SEBS EOF. He makes it a point to let students that may be struggling academically that he too overcame those struggles by never giving up and seeking the many support resources available to him. His advice to students is
"Never let anyone dismiss your dreams or your goals”.
David is always willing to give back. He has done great work helping out in Haiti with the crisis that continues in that country. His volunteer work through Explorers Sans Frontieres (Without Borders) as a team leader has contributed to three medical missions since the 2010 Haiti Earthquake. He serves as Head of Missions team leader, translator and recruiter. This is a project close to his heart and he has completed several medical missions and continues to assist any way he can. We can always count on Dr David Pierre to come back to Rutgers to inspire and contribute his time.
