Letter From Director

James WhitneyWelcome to the Student Support Services Website! On behalf of the entire SSS staff and Student Access & Educational Equity (SAEE) team, we are delighted to have you explore the resources on our site. SSS, a federal TRIO Program, is approaching 50 years as an integral part of the Rutgers University community. Scholars in our program have access to free tutoring, academic advising, academic coaching, grant aid support, mentorship, financial literacy initiatives, and specialized workshops, events and programs. SSS scholars receive a ton of support and opportunities that have helped many students persist at the University and graduate, become successful in graduate school, and careers directly after graduation, where our goal is to continue to produce #moreinfour.

I believe that a supportive educational environment creates a culture that embraces and thrives on the success of its students, inclusive of their academic, personal, and career aspirations. As educators, we must be an advocate for our students, and should be willing and able to develop a means of highlighting and showcasing their potential and success without hesitation.  To that end, our services emphasize our focus on student retention, graduation, and success – as well as the important connection to our partner programs, such as EOF, LSAMP, McNair and the larger SAEE and RU-1st communities. We hope that as you navigate our resources that you find a wealth tools useful for your success at Rutgers.

Please take a moment to drop by our office at the Livingston Campus and visit an advisor, request a peer mentor, schedule a tutoring or academic coaching module, or attend a SSS workshop, event or program!  Our staff are invested in strengthening your academic and leadership capacities and ready to share your contributions to the community.

Best regards,
Jason A. Moore
